The Bethlehem Community is a school of love and life. It has formed as a response to the crisis of young people who were in search of love and home which they were not capable of creating and living. This great need was perceived by the Lazarist Peter Žakelj, who by talking to the young took up the challenge to help them build a new home. We believe that the Bethlehem Community is a work of God as it has formed in response to the need.
In the community, the young learn how to live a responsible life by building true relationships, doing everyday housework, gardening, finishing the studies and getting employment.
They are also daily engaged in helping the homeless, the children with learning difficulties, youth in crisis, and provide support to families and others in need. In this way, they try to find their true vocation in life as Christians by following the example of Saint Vincent de Paul, whose faith was inseparably connected with serving others.
